I gave it three stars in the hopes they can make some changes. It's hard to run a small hardware store, when you are not handy yourself. You have to be a well-rounded handy man to be able to run a whole hardware store. You can't expect a customer to take the opinion of someone who obviously has no experience in repairing/maintaining things seriously. Deer-in-the-headlights does not sell things.
Went there this week and it was my first time there. It was in the morning when first open and there was only one woman working the counter and she was not friendly at all. Even after I had to find my supplies by myself because I didn't know where anything was at, I purposely tried to strike up friendly conversation with the lady and she was so rude. Didn't speak when i said good morning and then after she rang me up I said I hope you're day is good mam and her response was absolutely nothing. Won't go back unless it's a dire emergency
Great selection and service. They stand behind their products. The kids always get their fresh popcorn!
Actually, this is Barbara's husband, Kevin. Today, I realized a very different experience from previous visits. First, please allow me to provide a sincere compliment to the manager. He was, as usual, helpful, friendly and very accommodating; however, the young lady at the cash register was about as removed as she could be from her scene of employment. I even asked said manager if there was something troubling the employee? He indicated that he would speak to her. What happened was the following: I walked in and stood at the cash register for about a minute and the cashier, standing right there, doing nothing, did not even acknowledge me. I saw the earplug she was wearing for the cell phone and asked her "Ma'am are you on the phone?" she said "No." She was as distant as she could be. I sensed no customer service concern whatsoever. It was almost as if she couldn't be bothered with me, a patron. If I return to that lovely little store and encounter the same demeanor I will immediately walk out and not go back.
Poor. I know it's impossible for a small hardware to have everything. And I gave the store a true benefit of the doubt. I have been there 8-10 times, they had what I needed once. I understand that there should be a premium for convenience, but the store will price itself out of business, just like the frozen yogurt (yo pop) place did. The markup is way too steep. So in conclusion, Lowe's it is. I would like to help a small store, but it is a waste of time to even check if they have "it."
It's nice to have a local hardware store that's not like a big box.
